Victorian Premier Dan Andrews is facing the prospect of further lockdown measures as the state has another day of double digit positive cases.
It has resulted in the State Government offering to pay to keep people home, and hopefully stop the spread.
Victorians that contract COVID-19 or have a close contact with the virus will receive a payment of $1500.
This payment is for people who either contract the disease or have a close contact who has it, and cannot rely on sick leave.
“This is about making sure there’s no financial reason for these people not to isolate and to go to work instead,” Andrews said in a statement.
As of midnight last night, 300,000 people in selected Victorian postcodes have been placed on lockdown to help with the developing crisis.
