5,000 people at the Gabba were left gobsmacked and in silence after witnessing one of the most brutal hits in the AFL.

Collingwood forward, Brody Mihocek, went back with the flight of the ball against Melbourne and hit the ground hard.

Play was stopped for 5 minutes as the player was stretched from the field.

Coach Nathan Buckley told the media after the game they would monitor the forwards health.

“I think he went for precautionary scans on his neck, but we don’t believe there’s any major injury out of that as such,” Buckley told reporters post-game.

“We’ve got a nine-day break and we’re going to need every bit of that to see where he settles. But clearly we’ll be looking after him.”
