Australia is mourning the death of one of the biggest trailblazers in the music industry, Helen Reddy, passing away at the age of 78.
The sad news was confirmed via her offical Facebook page, with her family posting a statement.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Reddy, on the afternoon of September 29th 2020 in Los Angeles. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”
Reddy was best known for her feminist anthem I Am Woman, which was released in 1972.
A biographical film about Reddy titled I Am Woman was released in 2019.
